ARTIST BIO
Hello, my name is Madison Munro. I am a passionate studio artist currently based in Edmonton, Alberta. I find endless inspiration in the vibrant culture and diverse community that surrounds me. In my work, I explore a wide range of mediums, including painting, drawing, and mixed media.
I was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where I received an education in fine arts. Currently, I am planning to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. After completing my studies, I aim to pursue a career as an Art Director/Curator with the hope of working in an art gallery or museum someday.
As an artist, I have been developing my unique style over the years, which has been heavily influenced by both art history and pop culture. I find inspiration in the works of several contemporary artists such as Ines Longevial, Claire Buckle, and Celia Lee, who have a distinct style and approach to their work. Additionally, I draw inspiration from the films of Wes Anderson, an artistic director who has an incredible eye for detail and a unique sense of style. By combining these various sources of inspiration, I strive to create art that is both original and compelling.
Recently, I have been working on a small collection of paintings called "Coming Home to Yourself". Through an artistic point of view, I hope to display strong feelings of nostalgia and femininity. I believe that all girls can relate to the journey from girlhood to womanhood, which is why this topic is important to me. As a young woman who is still navigating life and learning new things about myself and other women as I grow older, I am passionate about supporting this idea.
from me to you
I am grateful that I can use my artwork to showcase significant moments and emotions, and to express the beauty of everyday life.
I believe that sharing small yet significant moments and feelings is important, especially in a time when social media and other external factors can negatively impact one's perspective on life. I hope to create and share more of these beautiful moments with all of you in the future.
